Air Time

The time spent talking on a cellular telephone.

AMPS, (Advanced Mobile Phone Service)

the original standard for cellular products in the United States. All customers should be able to use their AMPS phone in any 800 MHz cellular market across the United States and Pan America

Cellular

is the term used to refer to the wireless phone systems that originated in the United States and originally operated in the 800 MHz frequency range. There are a maximum of two cellular operators in each market. They are usually referred to as the "Wireline" (landline phone company in that particular market), and the "Non-Wireline" carrier

Off-peak

Is the time of day when providers will charge reduced rates.

PCS

Personal Communications Service.  Digital voice messaging and data wireless telephone service.

Peak

Is the time of day when providers will charge full service rates.

Roaming

Calls made outside the user's home calling area.

TDMA

Time division multiple access.

WAP

The Wireless Application Protocol (WAP) is an open, global specification which gives mobile users with wireless devices the opportunity to easily access and interact with information and services. The protocol is developed by WAP Forum http://www.wapforum.org/, an organization of some of the most powerful Internet and telecom companies.
